The London Clinic
The London Clinic's journey to a single patient view with Hyland's OnBase
The London Clinic, a private, independent hospital founded in 1932 and operating as a charity since 1935, shares its experience of implementing Hyland's OnBase platform.
With departments ranging from theaters and ITU to a cancer center and diagnostics, the clinic focuses on providing personal care and excellence across various medical disciplines.
One of the key challenges faced by The London Clinic was replacing its outdated bespoke medical record system from 1998. They aimed to consolidate treatment summary documentation from multiple clinical systems into a single patient record view. Another significant objective was to modernize workflows by introducing single sign-on, scanning technologies, HL7 integration, automatic form preparation, and electronic forms.
The decision to choose OnBase was influenced by its proven clinical viewer, integration capabilities, scalability as a low-code solution, alignment with the clinic's architectural vision, and strategic opportunities like a patient portal and OnBase Connect.
The London Clinic adopted an incremental approach to break down project deliverables and quickly provide value. The project began in 2020, with the initial go-live of the OnBase Patient Window in December 2022.
Phase two deliverables in Q4 2023 include introducing the patient packet solution for automated form preparation, launching electronic forms with OnBase, and integrating with PACS systems. Upcoming activities also involve implementing a full Subject Access Requests (SAR) solution and exploring workflows linked with electronic forms.
The main benefits realized by The London Clinic include improved accessibility and usability, significant time savings, especially in medical records with a reduced backlog, increased scanning capacity, and streamlined processes.
