MetroHealth System
Hyland helps integrated healthcare delivery network meet its enterprise imaging needs.
The challenge
As an integrated healthcare delivery network serving more than 350,000 patients annually, The MetroHealth System has multiple departments that rely on imaging to deliver quality care. MetroHealth’s imaging has been digitized for a long time, but the various departments within the system had their own network, hardware, software and applications. For the most part, physicians only had access to text reports and radiology imaging.
MetroHealth saw the importance of having a unified imaging strategy that would include a vendor neutral archive (VNA) to house all imaging in one place and a universal viewer that would provide easy access, regardless of the native system.
As a longtime Hyland customer, MetroHealth knew they didn’t have to look any further as they sought to advance their enterprise imaging journey.
The solution
MetroHealth established an enterprise imaging steering committee with representatives from every area within their network that is involved in imaging. The group’s goal was to find a cost-effective solution that would meet their imaging needs and improve provider efficiency.
Their solution was Hyland’s Acuo VNA, which consolidates imaging information into a single repository and provides complete control over imaging data.
MetroHealth also leveraged Hyland’s NilRead universal diagnostic viewer. This provided fast access to all imaging types across their network and eliminated data silos. NilRead’s cross-enterprise tools also allow physicians and providers to send secure study links to peers and colleagues for collaboration or second opinions in real time.
Coupled with MetroHealth’s existing OnBase integrations, providers now have instant access to comprehensive patient records, enabling more informed care decisions and improved patient outcomes.
With these connected clinical care solutions, MetroHealth was able to optimize workflows and enhance staff productivity while reducing operational costs.
Benefits of Hyland enterprise imaging and content services
- Decreased imaging costs
- Improved clinician satisfaction and provider efficiency
- Enhanced quality of care and patient experience
Over the next year and a half, we aim to bring all of the images that we can into this infrastructure. That should bring a lot of technical efficiencies for us in terms of overall cost of ownership, service and support. When all the imaging becomes more available, it will be a big win for quality of care and provider efficiency.
