Wasatch County Government achieves top accessibility ranking with Hyland Content Portal-powered site
Officials leverage Hyland’s integrated approach to digital innovation to meet DOJ accessibility requirements
Hyland, the content innovation cloud pioneer and leading provider of content management solutions, today announced that Wasatch County Government, has achieved the top accessibility ranking among U.S. county government websites following the September launch of its new website powered by Hyland Content Portal.
Wasatch County is the first U.S. government entity to utilize Hyland Content Portal as its primary website platform, establishing a new digital layer that bridges citizen services with core government operations.
The ranking is part of the Silktide Index, which evaluates the web accessibility of worldwide organizations and assigns them a score based on their level of compliance with the globally-recognized standard for web accessibility, WCAG.
The dramatic improvement in accessibility ranking — from 1,385th to first place in the Silktide Index for U.S. local government counties — demonstrates Hyland Content Portal’s ability to deliver highly accessible digital experiences that comply with WCAG 2.2 AA standards, a crucial requirement of the Department of Justice for public sector organizations.
“With web accessibility now being a legal requirement for all public sector organizations in the U.S., we are proud that Wasatch County made the choice to trust Hyland to deliver its new digital layer,” said Leonard Kim, chief product officer at Hyland. “Integration with OnBase and WorkView brings huge potential for highly personalized intelligent content delivery with leading accessibility.”
Through OnBase and WorkView, Wasatch County technologists now can deliver secure, personalized services to citizens while maintaining the highest standards of accessibility. The new website serves as a foundation for Wasatch County's broader digital transformation initiative, enabling seamless integration between citizen-facing services and back-office operations. The county has already launched its first integrated digital service — the Board of Equalization property value appeals system — with more applications in development using the platform's advanced forms and self-service capabilities.
"We wanted to deliver a digital layer for the communities in Wasatch County that connected our citizens with their data. More than that, we wanted to create a platform that enabled integration and automation with the back office and create digital services that are accessible," said Don Wood, CIO at Wasatch County.
Wasatch worked in collaboration with Hyland and Jadu (maker of Hyland Content Portal) to deliver the new digital platform for Wasatch. “We are excited for Wasatch County, which has worked closely with Jadu and Hyland to deliver this incredible service for the communities in the county,” said Suraj KIka, CEO of Jadu. “Jadu is on a mission to become the world’s most accessible digital platform and this success with Wasatch is a shining example of why that mission is important.”
The implementation also aligns with Hyland's Content Innovation Cloud vision, demonstrating how accessibility serves as a cornerstone for AI readiness. By creating content that is accessible to humans, organizations simultaneously make it more accessible to machines, laying the groundwork for future AI innovation.
This successful deployment showcases the versatility of Hyland Content Portal, which has traditionally been known in the U.S. market for its forms and portal capabilities. The platform's pre-developed themes and integrated approach enable organizations to rapidly deploy accessible, feature-rich websites while maintaining seamless connections with their existing Hyland solutions.
